Il presente articolo risponde alla domanda: A che serve atto penitenziale nella celebrazione dell'Eucaristia? Questo rito della celebrazione è nato nel Medioevo come preghiera privata del celebrante e ha subito interessanti discussioni e cambiamenti nel XX secolo. La risposta alla domanda è offerta da un'analisi strutturale che rileva la posizione del rito nell'intera celebrazione eucaristica. Essa mostra che l'atto di penitenza ha lo scopo di disporre i partecipanti anticipando la riconciliazione operata dall'ascolto del Vangelo, dalla preghiera dell'anafora e dalla comunione.eghiera dell'anafora e dallacomunione.

The Penitential Act: What is it for?

The present paper answers the question: What is the purpose of Penitential Act in the celebration of the Eucharist? This rite of celebration originated in the Middle Ages as a private prayer of the celebrant and has undergone interesting discussions and changes in the 20th century. The answer to the question is offered by a structural analysis that notes the rite's position in the entire Eucharistic celebration. It shows that the Penitential Act is meant to dispose the participants by anticipating the reconciliation brought about by hearing the Gospel, the anaphora prayer and communion.
