Con el presente artículo nos proponemos indagar en el análisis lingüístico-discursivo de un corpus documental que aún no ha sido suficientemente atendido desde el ámbito de la filología: los diarios de guerra redactados por soldados rebeldes cubanos durante la guerra hispano-cubana por la Independencia. En el estudio se tratarán, en primer lugar, las características definitorias de este tipo textual y se analizarán las convenciones escriturarias del código y del registro militar en un contexto de obligada inmediatez comunicativa. Se completará tal estudio con la presentación de los rasgos de habla que pueden apreciarse en los textos para así contribuir al estudio de la variación del español americano/cubano decimonónico.

Cuban Spanish in the mambises war diaries

In this paper we will focus on the linguistic-discursive analysis of a corpus that has not yet been sufficiently addressed by linguistics: the Cuban war diaries, written by rebel soldiers during the Spanish-Cuban independence war. In the study, the main characteristics of this textual type will be discussed, and there will be an analysis of scriptural conventions of the code and the military register in a context of communicative immediacy. This study will be concluded with the presentation of the speech features that can be seen in these texts in order to contribute to the study of the variation of nineteenthcentury American/Cuban Spanish.
