Tato práce si klade za cíl zmapovat aspekty života Vlastimily Kladivové (narozena 21. srpna 1921, zemřela 18. března 2003), komunistické odbojářky a pozdější historičky na Univerzitě Karlově, která jako jedna z prvních nastínila problematiku holokaustu Romů v publikaci Konečná stanice – Auschwitz-Birkenau. Olomouc 1994. Konkrétní aspekt života Kladivové, který tvoří centrální výzkumný zájem této práce, je její odbojová činnost mezi lety 1939–1942 a dále její věznění na Pankráci, v Terezíně a koncentračních táborech Auschwitz-Birkenau a poté Ravensbrück do roku 1945. Za tímto účelem práce představuje kontext jejího předválečného života (dět-ství, studia a politická angažovanost), který vedl k jejímu vstupu do odboje; specifika jejího působení a dopad její činnosti na komunistický odboj jako takový a dále její osudy a vývoj odboje po jejím dopadení v roce 1942. Tato práce přináší nový, a především celistvý náhled na život a práci této ne-příliš probádané historické osobnosti. Práce zpřístupňuje a konsoliduje primární prameny, které nebyly doposud zpracované v žádné širší publikaci a slouží tedy jako vhodný počáteční bod pro další výzkum v této oblasti.

The Journey of Vlasta Kladivová towards Her Membership in the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and Her Participation in the Communist Resistance Between 1939-1942

This thesis aims to provide an account of some aspects of the life of Vlastimila Kladivová (1921-2003), a participant in the Czechoslovak communist resistance ef-fort and later a historian at Charles University in Prague, where she was among the first researchers to work on the issue of the Holocaust of the Roma people, having published her findings in the monography Konečná stanice – Auschwitz-Birkenau, Olomouc 1994. The precise area of Kladivová's life which forms the research focus of this thesis is Kladivová's resistance activity between the years 1939-1942 and the period of her subsequent imprisonment at Pankrác penitentiary, the Teresienstadt labour camp and the extermination camps of Auschwitz-Birkenau and Ravensbrück which lasted until the end of the war in 1945. To that end, this thesis discusses the context of Kladivová's pre-war life (her upbringing, her studies and her early political activity) which influenced her engagement with the communist resistance; the details of her tenure as a resistance fighter and the impact her activities had on the communist re-sistance in the protectorate as a whole, and finally, the fate of her and of the com-munist resistance following her arrest in 1942. This thesis contributes a novel, unified outlook on the life and work of this so far under-researched historical figure. The thesis consolidates primary sources which have up to now not been treated in any publication and makes them available for fur-ther study. As such, this thesis serves as a starting point for further re-search in this area.
