Der Aufbau und die künstlerische Ausstattung der Wallfahrtskirche Mariä-Reinigung in Dub an der March (Dub nad Moravou), die in den Jahren 1735-1757 lief, hat zu den bedeutendsten Bauunternehmen der Barockzeit in Mähren gehört. Das Hauptaltarbild mit demThema Darbringung Jesu im Tempel und Reinigung Mariä schuf der Maler Josef Stern (1716-1775). Der Artikel beschäftigt sich mit den Umständen der Schaffung dieses Werkes und vergleicht das Bild mit einer zu ihm gehörenden vorbereitenden Arbeit, die Ölskizze des identischen Themas. Die Ölskizze, die früher als verloren galt, ist im Jahr 2009 in der Kunstauktion in Wien aufgetaucht und befindet sich jetzt in einer Privatsammlung in Niederösterreich.

One of the most important building projects undertaken in Moravia during the baroque period was the construction and decoration between 1735-1757 of the pilgrimage Church of the Purification of the Virgin in Dub nad Moravou. A painting for the main altaron the theme Presentation of Jesus at the Temple and the Purification of the Virgin was created by painter Josef Stern (1716-1775). This article is focused on the circumstances of creation of this work and compares Stern s altar painting with its sketch. The sketch (a contractual modello), regarded as missing, appeared in an art auction in 2009 in Vienna and is now in a private collection in Lower Austria.
