NECS is the largest pan-European scholarly network for audiovisual media studies. The NECS conference is the largest event of this kind in Europe. There has never been such an important international conference on film in the Czech Republic. The missionof the NECS conferences is to support and disseminate new ideas in the field of cinema and other audiovisual media, and to provide space for critical discussion between researchers, students and practitioners from various countries and disciplines. The main topic of the Prague conference will deal with political dimensions of media and political influences on media. This will help to make the conference more socially relevant, open to the wider public, and to link it with the precious problems of mediapolitics today as well as with the peculiar history of the East-Central Europe.
