El tempo como factor discriminante en el análisis forense del habla : análisis descriptivo en hablantes bilingües (catalán-espanol)

Este trabajo pretende observar la solidez del tempo como parámetro a tener en cuenta en la comparación forense del habla. Concretamente, se centra en el análisis de la velocidad del habla, de la velocidad de articulación y del número y duración de las pausas en un grupo de estudiantes catalanes de la Universidad Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona. El experimento fue llevado a cabo en el marco del Programa de postgrado en Lingüística Forense de la IDEC-Universidad Pompeu Fabra, y muestra que, al contrario de lo sugerido por Gold (2012), no todos los elementos que constituyen el tempo son rasgos eficaces para el análisis forense del habla. Así, de los tres elementos analizados, solo el número y la duración de las pausas parece realmente discriminatorio, mientras que la velocidad del habla y la velocidad de articulación parecen depender más de las características del texto y del contexto que del hablante.

This paper presents a study ab out the solidity of speaking tempo as a discriminatory parameter in the forensic speech comparison. In particular, it focuses on the analysis of the elements constituting speech rate: speaking rate, articulatory rate and length and number of pauses in a group of Catalan students from Rovira i Virgili University, in Tarragona. The experiment, which was carried out for the Postgraduate program in Forensic Linguistics held by IDECPompeu Fabra University, shows that, against Gold’s suggestions (2012), not all the elements constituting speaking tempo can be considered as effective for the forensic analysis of speech. Indeed, from the three analyzed features, only length and number of pauses seem to be significant for speaker identification, while both speaking and articulatory rate seem to depend more on the text and the context than on the speakers themselves.
