The Interaction Style of Coaching and Perceived Training Load in Elite Adolescent Athletes
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
The coach can affect sport experience of an elite adolescent athlete. If coach has a positive influence and he is interested in young athletes, the athletes enjoy the sport more and less often leave the sport activity. If the influence of coach is negative and full of punishments, it deepens the anxiety in young athletes and they are more vulnerable to experience overtraining syndrome. The main aim of this study was to examine the relationship between interaction style of coach and perceived training load in elite adolescent athletes. We focused on mapping of occurrence of overtraining syndrome in this group based on coach´s interaction style, gender and type of sport. Czech versions of following questionnaires – Profile of Mood questionnaire and Questionnaire on Supervisor (Doctoral - student interaction)were administrated to 447 young elite athletes. The data of the study are currently being processed and the results of the research will be presented at the conference. However, we expect confirmation of significant, but not very tight relationship between interaction style of coach and level of perceived training load. The results of this study can be used in coaching practice as a guideline for interaction with young elite athletes and prevention of overtraining syndrome.
