Het Tsjechisch en het Nederlands verschillen van elkaar ook op het gebied van reductieprocessen. Terwijl de reductieprocessen in het Tsjechisch als een “vreemd accent” of “verkeerd Tsjechisch” worden aangeduid, o.a. in Palková (1994), zijn deze een veel voorkomend fenomeen in het gesproken Nederlands. Het gesproken Nederlands kan daardoor soms moeilijk verstaanbaar zijn voor een Tsjech. Dit komt door het feit dat er veel reductie van klanken voorkomt. De reductie kan enerzijds op het niveau van weggelaten woordeinden zijn of weggelaten klinkers in onbeklemtoonde syllabes. Dit soort reductie is voor een NVT-spreker van het Nederlands nog in vele gevallen te volgen. Daarnaast kan, zoals Ernestus et. al. (2016) het noemt, extreme reductie voorkomen waarbij de woorden en zinnen aanzienlijk worden gereduceerd. In dit soort gevallen zorgt dit fonologisch proces voor moeilijkheden bij de perceptie van zulke uitingen bij de NVT-spreker van het Nederlands. In dit onderzoek wil ik graag nagaan hoe de A2 en B2 Tsjechische studenten van het Nederlands met de reductie in het Nederlands omgaan en in hoeverre ze in staat zijn om de gereduceerde uitingen te begrijpen. Welke soorten reductie zijn het meest problematisch en op welk niveau zijn de NVT-studenten in staat om de gereduceerde uitingen juist te ontcijferen?

Czech and Dutch also differ from each other in the field of reduction processes. While the reduction processes in Czech are referred to as a "strange accent" or "wrong Czech", including in Palková (1994), they are a common phenomenon in spoken Dutch. Spoken Dutch can therefore be difficult for a Czech to understand. This is due to the fact that there is a lot of reduction of sounds. The reduction may on the one hand be at the level of omitted word ends or omitted vowels in unstressed syllables. In many cases, this type of reduction can still be followed by an NVT speaker of Dutch. In addition, such as Ernestus et. al. (2016), extreme reduction is prevented whereby the words and sentences are considerably reduced. In such cases, this phonological process causes difficulties in the perception of such utterances with the NVT speaker of Dutch. In this study I would like to examine how the A2 and B2 Czech students of Dutch deal with the reduction in Dutch and to what extent they are able to understand the reduced expressions. Which types of reduction are the most problematic and at what level are the NVT students able to correctly decipher the reduced expressions?
