Les Amérindiens de Jacques Ferron et la mythopoïésis identitaire

Jacques Ferron est l'auteur d'une oeuvre "interdiscursive" qui profite de la capacité inclusive de la fonction esthétique pour impliquer dans ses textes un programme correspondant a la phase intégrative du modelage identitaire (selon Bouchard). C'est dans ce contexte qu'il faut considérer la tentative mythopoiétique de réaliser un mélange culturel présenté non seulement comme une synthèse de la canadianité française avec différents aspects de l'américanité anglophone, mais aussi comme une intégration de l'héritage amérindien et métis dans différentes oeuvres. Le roman Le Ciel de Québec (1969) peut être interprété comme une construction mythopoiétique intégrant des éléments grecs anciens, chrétiens et amérindiens. L'exemple principal est le mythe d'Orphée et le mythe Wendat analogue enregistré par les missionnaires jésuites dans leurs Relations, tous deux associés a l'imaginaire chrétien de la résurrection.

Jacques Ferron is the author of an «interdiscursive» work that takes advantage of the inclusive capacity of the aesthetic function to involve in his texts a program corresponding to the integrative phase of identity modeling (according to Bouchard). It is in this context that we should consider the mythopoietic attempt to realize a cultural mixing presented not only as a synthesis of French Canadianity with different aspects of Anglophone Americanity, but also as an integration of the Amerindian and Métis heritage in dierent works. The novel Le Ciel de Québec (1969) may be interpreted as a mythopoietic construction integrating Ancient Greek, Christian and Native American elements. The major example is the myth of Orpheus and the analogous Wendat myth recorded by Jesuit missionaries in their Relations, both associated with the Christian imaginary of the Resurrection.
