Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Die Zeitschrift Merkur. Deutsche Zeitschrift für europäisches Denken gilt vielerorts als konservativ und traditionalistisch. Sie verfolgte jedoch von Anfang an eine ›Strategie der Mitte‹. Insbesondere sollte an die Tradition der europäischen Aufklärung angeknüpft werden. Aufgrund etlicher biographischer Kontinuitäten der Herausgeber, die bereits in den 1930er und 1940er Jahren in den Zeitschriften Neue Rundschau und Europäische Revue als Redakteure, Schriftleiter und Herausgeber tätig waren, sind in Merkur allerdings auch viele ideengeschichtliche Residuen des in der Zwischenkriegszeit verbreiteten, nationalistisch- amalgamierten Europäismus eingegangen.

Merkur. Deutsche Zeitschrift für europäisches Denken is considered a conservative and traditionalist periodical. From the beginning, however, it sought a strategy of the center, looking for links to the traditions of the European Enlightenment. Based on the numerous biographical continuities of the publishers who had already published the magazines Neue Rundschau and Europäische Revue in the interwar and wartime period, Merkur had many intellectual remnants of the then nationalist Europeanism at the time.
