Divadelní budova sehrává v architektonickém dědictví mimořádně důležitou roli – nepředstavuje jen centrum kulturního, společenského a politického dění, odráží stavební praxi, estetiku a urbanistické myšlení své doby. U divadelních staveb se do specifické kompozice promítá i inscenační praxe tehdejších tvůrců a tvůrkyň. V daném duchu vzniklo i první městské divadlo v Mostě podle návrhu renomovaného vídeňského architekta Alexandra Grafa. Budova, která více než šest desetiletí tvořila významní součást kulturní infrastruktury, padla za oběť rozsáhle těžbě uhlí, společné s dalšími architektonicky cennými stavbami historického Mostu. Přesto se mostečtí v roce 1985 dočkali kulturního stánku – Městského divadla v Mostě (původně ještě Divadlo pracujících), které se záhy stalo centrem společenského života nově vzniklé městské zástavby. Architekt Ivo Klimeš vnesl do města nepřehlédnutelnou formu budovy (jakoby) vyrůstající k nebi. Nejen fasáda tvoří nové divadlo divadlem. Do celku patří i prostorný foyer s uměleckými díly a funkčním divadelním prostorem opatřeným jedinečnou technologií dvou točen. Nové divadlo tak navazuje na architektonickou kontinuitu, funkčně pokrývá současný umělecký vývoj a spoluvytváří specifický duch místa a města, které hledá cestu k nalezení své nové identity.

The theatre building represents a significant role in architectural heritage - it is not merely a centre of cultural, social, and political life, but also a reflection of the construction practices, aesthetics, and urban thinking of its time. In theatre architecture, the spatial and compositional design is also influenced by the staging practices of the period. This spirit also guided the creation of the first municipal theatre in Most, designed by the renowned Viennese architect Alexander Graf. The building, which had formed a significant part of the city’s cultural infrastructure for more than six decades, fell victim to extensive coal mining, along with other architecturally valuable structures in historic Most. Nevertheless, in 1985, the people of Most gained a new cultural venue - the Municipal Theatre in Most (originally the Theatre of the Working People), which soon became the centre of social life in the newly developed urban area. Architect Ivo Klimeš introduced a striking building form to the city, seemingly rising toward the sky. Not only does the façade define the new theatre as a theatrical space, but the complex also includes a spacious foyer with artworks and a functional auditorium equipped with the unique technology of two revolving stages. The new theatre thus continues architectural continuity, functionally accommodates contemporary artistic development, and co-creates the distinctive spirit of a place and a city seeking a path toward a new identity.
