This contribution deals with phenomenon of financial counselling as part of the financial system. Paper approaches regulation of financial counselling from both, economic and juristic view in order to fully comprehend the content of the term. Author compares perception of financial counselling regulation. in Czech and Slovak Republic and critically evaluates both systems in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses. Finally, the contribution provides possible steps to be undertaken in order to maximize affectivity of financial counselling regulation.
