Should Criminalistics be taught in law schools?
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Criminalistics is one of the so-called auxiliary sciences of criminal law and is closely connected with it. The knowledge of criminalistics is very important for the proper conduct of criminal proceedings, especially the part related to evidence. Thus, criminalistics is used by law enforcement authorities, but not only by them. The problem is that the initial familiarisation often occurs only in the context of practice, as the trend is currently that criminalistics is not taught as a compulsory subject, but is usually only a so-called compulsory elective subject. In the present paper we focused on the question whether this trend is sufficient or whether a change should be considered. We also focused on the importance of criminalistics for criminal proceedings and the contribution of knowledge in this field within various legal professions. We also had briefly mentioned the history of the teaching of criminalistics in law schools.
