Conférence internationale sur le theme de l Europe Centrale, carrefour des cultures dans la tradition litteraire. Dans une Europe dont l unité se construit sur la base d une diversité - notamment linguistique et culturelle - pleinement assumée parce qu elle fait précisément la singularité et la richesse de ce continent, il s agit de mettre en valeur cette diversité et de souligner l importance de l influence culturelle réciproque sur la littérature. La République tcheque se trouve a la croisée de plusieurs cultures suite aux différentes invasions qu elle a connues tout au long de son histoire. Que ce soit les Celtes, les Avares, les Romains, les Autrichiens, les Hongrois, les Allemands, les Juifs ou encore les Russes, elle a seulement été influencée par leurs cultures tout en sachant conserver ses richesses culturelles.

Central Europe the Crossroads of Cultures in the Literary Tradition On the one hand, Europe strives to unite its countries, yet on the other it represents a community of nations whose linguistic and cultural traditions are often most diverse. This fact cannot be denied, indeed it should be respected. It is necessary to promote and strengthen the mutual positive influences of each individual country. One of the most important ways of achieving this is through literature. The Czech Republic lies at the heart of Europe at the crossroads of several different cultures. In its history it has endured multiple invasions from the Celts, Avars, Romans, Austrians, Hungarians, Germans and Russians. Our country has been greatly influenced by these nations yet has always retained its own cultural heritage and richness.
