Dirk Mathias Dalberg zeigt in seiner Studie auf, dass die Idee einer nichtpolitischen Politik älter ist als der tschechische Dissens der Siebziger- und Achtzigerjahre des 20. Jahrhunderts. Ihre Ursprünge reichen bis in die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts zurück. Als normative Politikvorstellung, vor allem aber als alternative Strategie zur Erreichung längerfristiger politischer Ziele wie der Erringung und Bewahrung eines eigenen Staates und der Bewahrung der Nation erlebte die Idee der nichtpolitischen Politik in den Jahren von 1890 bis 1940 im tschechischen Kontext der böhmischen Länder ihre Blütezeit. Die von der Formulierung in Art eines (rhetorischen) Oxymorons und einer (logischen) contradictio in adiecto ausgelösten Assoziationen und damit verbundenenVorstellungen hatten in dieser Zeit eine besondere politische Relevanz und Sprengkraft.

The Czech image of "non-political politics" has a longer history than the wide-known history of Czech dissent. Its evolution should be viewed in the wider historio-sociological and historio-politological connections of the cultural changes of this century. The author interprets the concept of nonpolitical politics as a strategy to gain political aims and a normative idea how politics and policy should be. Understood as a strategy nonpolitical politics are important to gain a Czech state within the Habsburg empire (1890-1914), than to defend Czechoslovakia (1918-1938) and last but not least to protect to Czech nation (1938-1940).
