The article focuses on the process of pan-Indian identity construction among the diaspora of Andean busking musicians in Europe. During the first decade of a new millennium, musicians redefined Andean identities in order to create pan-Indian ones withina wider hemispheric framework. Influenced by the European stereotyping of American Indians, Andean indigenous identities have been socially rehabilitated and revalorized. This new concept has been transferred back to Andean countries through a distinctive pan-Indian musical output. There, it has contributed to the creation of new expressions of contemporary urban indigenous identities.
