Aux archives du Château de Prague, il y a 62 livres manuscrits, de 160 à 180 pages chacun. Il s´agit d´un exemple du genre appelé les « livres d'extraits », une sorte de la bibliothèque privée, né au XVIIIe siècle. Quant à nos « livres d'extraits », nous ne connaissons pas le nom de son auteur ; sans aucun doute, il s´agit d´ une personne instruite proche du roi français Charles X, qui a passé une partie de son exil (1832-1836) au château de Prague. Les pages reflètent les sujets divers, les sciences, les technologies, la géographie, l'histoire, les voyages, etc. Certaines sont consacrées à l´histoire des pays de l'ancienne monarchie autrichienne, p. e. aux guerres de Succession d'Autriche, aux guerres napoléoniennes. La place est consacrée à Wenceslas IV, Wallerstein, on y trouve l´exposé détaillé de la vie et de la mort de Jean Hus etc.

In the Prague Castle archives, there are 62 manuscript books, each 160 to 180 pages long. They are an example of the genre known as "extract books", a type of private library that originated in the 18th century. As for our "books of extracts", we do not know the name of their author; without doubt, he was an educated person close to the French king Charles X, who spent part of his exile (1832-1836) at Prague Castle. The pages reflect a wide range of subjects, including science, technology, geography, history and travel. Some are devoted to the history of the countries of the former Austrian monarchy, e.g. the Wars of the Austrian Succession and the Napoleonic Wars. The place is devoted to Wenceslas IV, Wallerstein, and there is a detailed account of the life and death of John Hus, etc.
