Removal of selected pharmaceuticals by heterogeneous photocatalysis
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Pharmaceuticals belong to the group of organic compounds that may adversely affect aquatic ecosystems. Although the detected amount is relatively low (in the order of ng/l up to tens of mg/l), by their nature pharmaceuticals have a strong biological effect on non-target organisms, even at these low concentrations. For ibuprofen was observed toxic effect on both the lower organisms (D.magna H. attenuata) and plants (L. minor) or fish (O. latipes). Similar effects were found with paracetamol. Drugs were from model water samples removed by heterogeneous photocatalysis, wherein on the catalyst surface the radiation produces oxidiser causes destruction of drug. As the catalyst used was 0.5 g/l titanium dioxide (TiO2, Precheza a.s.). As a source of UV radiation was used UV lamp (Helling) with absorbance maxima at 365 nm. At the same time the various concentrations of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) or at different pH values was determined. Samples were analyzed by high performance liquid chromatogr
