CSR Web Communication in Controversial Industries: The Example of Chemical Companies Based in Post-Communist Countries
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Sharing the benefits of socially responsible behavior of companies requires effective communication of the socially responsible activities which are performed. The need for effective communication exhibits itself, in particular, in the case of companies in controversial industries. The question is the extent to which companies in controversial industries operating in post-communist countries, in which the level of CSR communication is low in general, utilize the potential of CSR web communication. The study shows that the scope of CSR web communication of the TOP chemical companies based in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Ukraine corresponds to the generally low level of CSR communication in post-communist countries. The greatest number of CSR activities is communicated by TOP chemical companies based in the Czech Republic, followed by companies based in Ukraine and Slovakia. The number of CSR activities communicated by chemical companies based in these countries increases with the size of the companies. As regards the field of CSR, the companies monitored communicate economic and environmental responsibility activities in the greatest scope. On the contrary, they communicate ethical responsibility activities only minimally.
