The paper presents basic notions of IF-sets introduced by K.T. Atanassov and the design of new hierarchical IF-inference systems of Mamdani type for the modelling. We propose a tree hierarchical IF-inference system for the modelling of local sustainabledevelopment. The analysis of results shows that it is possible to model uncertainty and relationships in the complex system of local sustainable development.
