The aim of the study is to analyse micromechanical aspects of intergranular initiation of brittle fracture as a micromechanism that can be well susceptible to metallurgic cleanliness and cumulative degradation of material. The main purpose or this work is to quantify causes and characteristics goveming the intergranular fracture initiation and occucrence or this fracttlre micromechanism in competition with cleavage Dne. Comparison of measured properties with characteristics calculated from statistical mmodels for intergranular and cleavage fracttlre should be made.
