The article is concerned with newly established system in language teaching at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Brno University of Technology. It monitors this concept in the context of The Bologna Process and in the context of the language diversity proclaimed by The European Union, it assesses the first practical impacts a year from its introduction. Foreign language abilities of students and graduates are also monitored with respect to the use of contacts with international universities and with respect to possible career achievements of the graduates - mainly in industrial companies.
