A new approach to characterization of ultrasound contrast agents
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Microbubbles are used as contrast agents in combination with ultrasound and currently are proposed for drug delivery applications. For this development is necessary to identify a microbubble formation process and stability of the system. In this respectnew physico-chemical approach to characterization of SonoVue? microbubbles and phospholipid systems was found. Basic properties of these systems such as size distribution, zeta potential and phase stability of particles or solubilization ability were studied using spectroscopic methods because of behavior in biological system. Selected solutes, which could serve as a model substances at the use of these systems for theranostic applications were investigated. Other phospholipids and surfactants were compared with SonoVue? for evaluation of effect of system composition on final properties of the system. It was found that surface properties of phospholipid systems are significant for microbubble formation and stability of contrast agents.
