FALTUS, Miloš and Petr SVOBODA. Conservation of the Czech hop germplasm by cryoperservation. In: F. WEIHRAUCH, ed. Proceedings of the Scientific-Technical Commission 25 – 29 June 2017, St. Stefan am Walde, Austria. Wolnzach: Scientific-Technical Commission of the International Hop Growers´ Convention, 2017, p. 108. ISSN 2512-3785. Hop (Humulus lupulus L.) belongs to the most important crops in the Czech Republic. This crop is propagated and maintained vegetatively. Hop as a perennial and vegetativepropagated crop is endangered by viruses and viroids. Conservation of hop germplasm inthe field collections increases the risk of accidental loss of valuable genotypes. This risk can be reduced using the method of cryopreservation, which allows safe storage of the plant samples at ultra-low temperatures. This method contributes to the conservation of genetic stability and prevent from ageing. It is used for conservation of genetic resources of cultural and wild plants in such virus free material, which is endangered by biotic and abiotic stresses if multiplied in field conditions. Development of cryocollection is the best way to eliminate the risk of an accession loss (REED et al. 2005).
