Die obstbaulich genutzte Fläche in Tschechien betrug 12.455 ha im Jahr 2023, und nimmt in der Tendenz ab. Die wichtigste Marktfrucht ist der Apfel, mit einem Anteil von 84 % an der Gesamtproduktion. Die gesamte Obsternte belief sich über die letzten fünf Jahre auf ca. 135.000 to jährlich. Die ökologisch bewirtschaftete Fläche erstreckte sich auf 3125 ha, von denen auf 1860 ha intensiv produziert wird, und auf 1265 ha extensiv. Die häufigsten Sorten sind 'Gala' mit ihren Mutanten, sowie die 'Golden Delicious'-Gruppe, die 'Jonagold'-Gruppe und 'Idared'. In Neupflanzungen werden zunehmend neue schorfresistente Sorten gepflanzt, darunter 'Rubinola', 'Topaz', und andere neue Sorten, die vorrangig aus den tschechischen Züchtungsprogrammen kommen. Die wichtigsten Akteure im Bereich von Obstbauforschung und Züchtung sind die Obstforschungs- und Züchtungsanstalt in Holovousy und das Institut für experimentelle Botanik in Prag und Strizovice.

The area used for fruit growing in the Czech Republic was 12,455 ha in 2023, and is decreasing in trend. The most important market crop is the apple, with a share of 84% of total production. The total fruit harvest over the last five years amounted to around 135,000 tons annually. The organically managed area extends to 3125 ha, of which 1860 ha is intensively produced and 1265 ha is extensively produced. The most common varieties are 'Gala' with its mutants, as well as the 'Golden Delicious' group, the 'Jonagold' group and 'Idared'. New scab-resistant varieties are increasingly being planted in new plantations, including 'Rubinola', 'Topaz', and other new varieties, which come primarily from Czech breeding programs. The most important players in the field of fruit growing research and breeding are the Fruit Research and Breeding Institute in Holovousy and the Institute of Experimental Botany in Prague and Strizovice.
