Obstacle in road traffic and its impact on the safety, flow and economy of road traffic on land roads

The paper deals with the significance of the road traffic obstacle and its impact on the safety, flow and economy of road traffic on roads (motorways and expressways). First of all, an obstacle in road traffic is defined and the basic concepts related to it, the perception of the character of the obstacle from three points of view (aspects forming an obstacle, the causes of the obstacle, the consequences of the obstacle), as well as the basic distribution of obstacles in road traffic. Subsequently, the issue of removing road traffic obstacles is described. In the economic field, attention is paid to the problem of quantifying the adverse effects on the gross domestic product when a highway or expressway is closed due to an obstacle in road traffic. At the end, proposals are presented for initiating changes in the valid legal framework in the territory of the Slovak Republic.
