Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Submitted chapter will focus at the theoretical level on the concept of small states and their possibilities to fight against terrorism. At the analytical level, it will show how selected small states of EU take activity in the common action of fight against terrorist group such as so-called Islamic state (IS). Author will focus on states of central (southeast) Europe: Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Slovenia. Main aim of the chapter is to show the importance of the activity of these small states. According to the concept of power of small states, it is obvious that the activity is not always active; however, also passive support is important to defeat IS. Author will show different ways of support by states in the fight against IS, both practical activities and political discussion. EU realizes the threat of IS, which is external to the security, the action must be taken abroad to defeat terrorism, far away from the EU borders or Schengen area. Great powers of Europe take action and initiative; however, small states also play their roles. The scope of activity and roles will be shown. Author has used qualitative methodology, specifically content analysis of created dataset composed of political declarations, media image and information about activity. Main research question is what roles and what range of activity is representative for selected states in the fight against IS.
