The chapter presents and analyses the role of first post-transitional Czechoslovka President Václav Havel on the development of Central European cooperation and specifically the foundation of Visegrád Group. It presents the unique position of former disidents and intellectuals in the leading positions in all three founding states as well as the obstacles given by the "Realpolitik" of several domestic actors in 1990s.
