Basado en materiales de archivo y testimonios orales previamente inéditos de Cuba y la República Checa, este estudio examina la Casa de la Cultura Checoslovaca en La Habana (1962) y la Casa de la Cultura Cubana en Praga (1963) como instrumentos de diplomacia cultural y poder blando durante la Guerra Fría de la década de 1960. Centrándose en su primera década, analiza por qué se establecieron estas instituciones en el extranjero, cómo reflejaron los cambios geopolíticos y cómo proyectaron las culturas nacionales, arrojando nueva luz sobre los intercambios culturales entre la Europa socialista y Cuba, en gran parte hasta ahora poco estudiados, más allá de la esfera soviética.

Based on previously unpublished archival materials and oral histories from Cuba and Czech Republic, this study examines the Czechoslovak House of Culture in Havana (1962) and the Cuban House of Culture in Prague (1963) as instruments of cultural diplomacy and soft power during the 1960s Cold War. Focusing on their first decade, it explores why these institutions were established abroad, how they reflected shifting geopolitics, and how they projected national cultures, shedding new light on largely overlooked cultural exchanges between socialist Europe and Cuba beyond the Soviet sphere.
