The Bohuslav Martinů Complete Edition: Symphony No. 4, H 305 is a scholarly, historical-critical edition of all the versions of Bohuslav Martinů's Symphony No.4, H 305 as well as of the arrangements he authorised. This edition presents the composer's intentions in their full breadth, makes hitherto unknown versions of works accessible. It is based on evaluation of all available musical and non-musical sources: i.e. autograph and printed scores, contemporary reproductions, drafts, short scores, manuscript copies, and the composer's extensive correspondence, as well as sound recordings, pictures, films, and other documents. The main musical text is the "Fassung letzter Hand". The edition of Symphony No. 4 also presents variant original versions, especially in cases where the composer authorised changes. This volume contains, in addition to the main musical text, also musical and textual facsimiles and a detailed Foreword, Critical Report in both English and Czech and Appendix.
