The preparation and appliaction of hollow fibre membrane is described in the paper. Hollow fibers were formed from the polymer solution by the phase inversion method. A blend of polyetherimide (ULTEM 1000) and polyimide (Matrimid 5218) was chosen as hollow fibre material. The permeation properties of polymer mixtures are quite complicated, depending on the number of phases, the miscibility of polymers and interaction between polymers. Several spinning parameters were varied during hollow fibre production. The aim was to achieve a membrane with an optimal microstructure and the greatest possible permeance and selectivity.
