Ein Kapitel der Monographie ist dem Prophezeiungsverständnis des jüdischen Historikers Josephus Flavius gewidmet. Es verweist auf sein Studium der biblischen Prophetie, vor allem aber auf die Personen, die zu seiner Zeit als Gewährsleute galten. Er stellt fest, wie er sie faktisch herausfordert und inwiefern er eine wertvolle Quelle für das Studium der prophetischen Bewegungen im Palästina des ersten Jahrhunderts darstellt. Schließlich versucht er zu zeigen, dass Josephus sich der prophetischen Tradition verpflichtet fühlte und einige Züge der Propheten bei sich selbst beobachtete. Auf dieser Grundlage können wir auch die widersprüchlichen Elemente seiner Lebensgeschichte besser verstehen.

A chapter in the monograph is devoted to the Jewish historian Josephus Flavius&apos; understanding of prophecy. It refers to his study of biblical prophecy, but above all it notes the persons who were regarded as vouches in his time. He notes how he factually challenges them and in what ways he provides a valuable source for the study of prophetic movements in first-century Palestine. Finally, he attempts to show that Josephus felt indebted to the prophetic tradition and observed some of the traits of the prophets in himself. Given this, we can also better understand the conflicting elements of his life story.
