Der Beitrag befasst sich mit dem Verständnis von Geschichte, Historizität und nationalen Mythen im Werk des tschechischen Dichters und Prosaikers Julius Zeyer, insbesondere in seinem Gedichtzyklus Vyšehrad, der die nationale Geschichte Böhmens feiert und poetisch aufwertet. Die Entstehung des Gedichtzyklus wird vor dem Hintergrund der Debatten über den Historismus und den ästhetischen Umgang mit dem historischen Material in den böhmischen Ländern analysiert. In diesem Zusammenhang wird auch die Übersetzung von Vyšehrad durch Otilie Malybrok-Stieler ins Deutsche untersucht. Dabei wird nicht nur auf die Qualität der Übersetzung geachtet, sondern auch auf die spezifische Rolle von Frauen als Übersetzerinnen.

The article deals with the understanding of history, historicity and national myths in the work of Czech poet and prose writer Julius Zeyer, especially in his poem cycle Vyšehrad that glorifies and poetologically potentiates the national history of Bohemia. The genesis of the poem cycle is analyzed against the backdrop of the historicism debates and aesthetics in the Bohemian Lands. In this context, the translation by Otilie Malybrok-Stieler is discussed. Not only is the quality of the translation addressed, but also the specific role of women as translators.
