In diesem Beitrag geht es um Veränderungen des Genres Familienroman, in dem seit etwa 15 Jahren verstärkt interkulturelle Erzählweisen und europäische Verflechtungsgeschichte anstelle nationalgeschichtlicher Erzählungen im Vordergrund stehen. Dies wird anhand eines Vergleichs von Thomas Manns "Buddenbrooks" (1901) mit zwei jüngeren Romanen, Sabrina Janeschs "Katzenberge" (2010) und Nino Haratischwilis "Das achte Leben. Für Brilka" (2014), exemplifiziert.

This article is about changes in the family novel genre, in which, for around 15 years, intercultural narratives and European interconnectedness have increasingly been in the foreground instead of national historical narratives. This is exemplified by a comparison of Thomas Mann's "Buddenbrooks" (1901) with two more recent novels, Sabrina Janesch's "Katzenberge" (2010) and Nino Haratischwili's "Das achte Leben. Für Brilka" (2014).
