This book review offers a thorough reflection of the well-known publication that deals with North-American English sound system. The description of the segmental sound system is being viewed critically due to the choice of diffrent transcription symbolsand significant novelty in the vowel system description. On the other hand very possitive and valuable is the description of typical American segmental sound features occuring in connected speech which are being described. Suprasegmental features description and all the teaching suplements together with the recorded materials offer a very good source for new generation of English language teachers who need to be aware of the sound of both American and British English.
