The aim of the following contribution is to describe a typical participant of the senior education at the University of the Third Age (U3A) at Jan Evangelista Purkyně University (UJEP) in Ústí nad Labem on the basis of different points of view, to show who the U3A participants are. The emphasis is put on participants of foreign language courses at U3A UJEP. The description follows demography (age, sex, education, nodal region), psychology (character type) as well as pedagogy (general aptitude, learningstyle). Within foreign language education the contribution brings results of placement tests in two different levels to prove progress.
