Jan Klusák?s Serial Form as a Sophisticated Tectonic Model.
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Jan Klusák ranks among the most distinctive contemporary Czech composers, in particular as regards music produced in the 1960s and ?70s. His creative style has been characterized from the beginning by an exceptionally strong sense of rational reflection. His music offers a wide variety of elements attesting to his penchant for compositional and structural refinements drawing on miscellaneous mathematical operations and geometric rules. From these foundations he proceeded to build his individual compositional method and his concept of a serial form derived from the properties of the twelve-tone series. His Sixth Invention, from 1969, embodies the accomplishment of Klusák?s theoretical and compositional endeavour at the end of which was a sophisticated tectonic model of a one-movement piece whose form and structure are not merely products of a random or unrestricted use of a series and its transpositions.
