Kinematic pair roller – cam contour
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
In the case of cam mechanisms, the contact of the working surfaces of the cam and the follower form a general kinematic pair. The force relations in the general kinematic pair, which are one of the characteristics of the dynamic properties of a cam mechanism cause the contact stress. If a certain limit of this stress is exceeded, the fatigue failure of the contact surfaces of the cam and the follower can occur in the operation of cam mechanisms. This damage is in the form of pittings, which develop from the cracks on the surface of the working surface. At the cams with the hardened surface layer, this layer can be broken and peeled off. Both types of damage occur due to the contact stress that is described by the Hertzian contact stress theory. The contact between the cam and the roller occurs in the contact area and in its plane there is realised the transmission of the normal reaction in the general kinematic pair. The normal reaction causes the deformation of both bodies and originates the contact pressure. The maximum pressure value is called the Hertzian pressure. From the point of view of the estimated service live of the contact areas of the general kinematic pair, the distribution of the reduced stress in the surface areas and at a certain depth under the surface is an important criterion. Comprehensive information on contact mechanics issue can be found
