This article deals with monitoring of dilatation changes during braked shrinking process from aluminium alloys. For these measures there were constructed a measuring equipment in the Department of Engineering Technology of the Technical University of Liberec. The zinc alloys are cast to the special form which it is part of constructed measuring equipment with cavity of a mould for cast of type ?I?. The main part of measuring equipment is dilatometer of Poland provenience. On this measuring equipment there were monitored a time elongation of dilatation changes or changes of shrinking process during solidification and cooling of casting. Measures were realized in cooled and non-cooled mould. The results of the measurement were compared and coefficient ofthermal contraction was calculated.
