The material characteristic and the deformation development by Magnesium plates in the area of its critical state
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Magnesium alloys play significant role in weight lowering of the means of transport. The major difference between forming the magnesium alloys and steel represents the working temperature. Although some forming operations of magnesium alloys can be done at room temperature, elevated temperatures are used in most applications. Because of the hexagonal close-packed (HCP) crystal lattice, the cold forming of magnesium alloys is very restricted that results in the low amount of deformation. The magnesium sheet is due to few slipping systems truly hardly to deform because the slip can be realize only in the basal planes. However, the slip takes place in pyramidal planes from 225 °C as well. Formed magnesium alloys can be used either as BIW parts (Body-in-white) or the dashboard carrier in the automotive industry. AZ31 alloy (which was used in this paper) is commonly used for these purposes. When considering the use of magnesium sheet in BIW components, a material deformation characteristics and their verification is truly needed and that is why in this paper were carried out some of these material tests in dependence on the temperature to reveal its influence of the AZ31 alloy formability. Moreover such results can serve to further pressing tools design. The contribution has been created during the SGS 21 005 project.
