    This article is focused on the development and further testing of flexible plastic artificial tubes with mechanical properties similar to real human veins. Various materials and methods of manufacture were proposed and tested. A chosen material and a method of casting of a flexible tube are described in detail. The centrifugally cast tubes from silicone elastomer Sylgard 184 along with TYGON tubes were measured for mechanical properties and were tested in a water circuit with membrane pump as a source of pulsatile flow. The tubes were measured using high speed camera and consequent digital image analysis. The measurement results showed the characteristic behaviour of flexible tube with pulsatile flow, proving the suitability of used materials and methods for producing an alternative to human veins for the purpose of basic flow measurements. A method for further improvement of cast tube properties is also proposed.
