In this paper, the effects of different modification methods on the properties of the composites are reviewed for epoxy resins and carbon fibers in textile-based composites. It mainly includes the toughening modification of epoxy resins and the adjustment of their flowability. In addition, the surface modification of carbon fibers, which includes oxidation treatment, plasma treatment, sizing treatment, and grafting treatment, is also presented. Although there are more methods to improve the properties of composites, each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. It is simple and easy to pursue only a single effect of composite material, but a significant increase in this property is usually detrimental to a balanced improvement of other properties. The comprehensive evaluation of modification techniques, aimed at controlling the performance of composites and achieving a harmonious and optimized integration of various properties, is pivotal in attaining high-performance composites and broadening their applications in the future. This approach plays a pivotal role in fostering the advancement and expansion of the composites industry.
