Nicolas Mahlers Literatur-Comic Alte Meister, der im Kunsthistorischen Museum in Wien spielt und Karikaturen der dort ausgestellten Gemälde enthält, ist gut geeignet, um im Unterricht die visuelle und multimodale Kompetenz zu erweitern, ohne die sprachlichen, landeskundlichen und kulturgeschichtlichen Ziele aus den Augen zu verlieren. Als Comic-Adaption des gleichnamigen Romans von Thomas Bernhard hat Alte Meister außerdem das Potenzial, die literale Entwicklung der Lernenden zu fördern und ihre Lesemotivation zu steigern. Im Folgenden sollen v.a. die Möglichkeiten des Einsatzes des Literatur-Comics Alte Meister im Unterricht Deutsch als Fremdsprache auf dem Sprachniveau B1 ausgeleuchtet werden. Dabei wird ein kleines Unterrichtsprojekt skizziert, das ca. drei Unterrichtseinheiten entspricht. Das Projekt zeigt deutliche Überschneidungen zu den Fächern Kunsterziehung und Literatur in der Muttersprache und entspricht dadurch den Anforderungen eines fächerübergreifenden Unterrichts.

Nicolas Mahler‘s literary comic Alte Meister, which is set in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna and contains caricatures of the paintings exhibited there, is well suited for expanding visual and multimodal skills in the classroom without losing sight of linguistic, cultural and historical objectives. As a comic adaptation of the novel of the same name by Thomas Bernhard, Alte Meister also has the potential to promote the literary development of learners and increase their motivation to read. The following section will focus on the possibilities of using the literary comic Alte Meister in German as a foreign language lessons at language level B1. A small teaching project will be outlined, which corresponds to approximately three teaching units. The project shows clear overlaps with the subjects of art education and literature in the mother tongue and thus meets the requirements of interdisciplinary teaching.
