The article deals with language teaching at OPF SU in Karviná. In the first part it focuses on the objectives of language teaching at OPF SLU in Karviná, which are based on Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Teaching foreign languagesin this context is conceived as a preparation of university students to international tests on general and professional basis. In terms of the division the Department of Foreign Languages and Communication offers the following. Language 1 includes the four-semester language training at the level of an independent language user /the reference framework for the description of language-level B 2/. Language 2 includes the four-semester language training at the level of the basic user of language/the reference framework for the description of language-level A2/.
