The foreign policy of the country is a set of self-interest strategies of the state to safeguard its national but also international interests. Since the Czech and Slovak republic became member countries of the European Union, they have also committed themselves to coordinate their foreign policies within the CFSP of the European Union and to follow the interest of the EU foreign policy. Since the security matters play an important role in the foreign policies of both countries and a range of areas in which both countries pursue their foreign policy is very broad, this paper focuses on the external relations between both countries and Western Balkans as the top priority of Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the EU, but also the priority of the Slovak and Czech foreign policy.
