Monitoring, not registering: The importance of reliable records of measures imposed to sex offenders (contribution to the collection of abstracts)
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Contribution to the collection of abstracts of the 15th international conference of the International Association for the Treatment of Sexual Offenders (IATSO) “Successfully Implementing Sexual Offender Treatment and Management: What is Helping and what is Hindering?” The abstract summarizes a paper that deals with the topic of criminal sanctions applied to sex offenders and the importance of reliable and up-to date information on application and execution of penal measures concerning sex offenders as a prerequisite for their efficiency. Using the Czech Republic as an example, the paper shows how shortcomings in judicial information systems can distort the conception of the application of these measures, hinder the utilization of their potential and thereby impair the public protection. The authors build on findings from ongoing research (VI20172019087) focused on the identification and remedy of shortcomings in the current monitoring system concerning protective measures in the Czech Republic.
