The paper deals with the possibility of substituting the conventional contact method for initial adjusting of roundness-instrument. Currently is on measuring machines common to use measuring stylus contact method adjusting before the main measuring process. The method involves a number of negatives(e.g. requirement of enormous quality and cleanness of used standard). Even in a clean laboratory environment is extremely difficult to achieve the first successful attempt to complete the initialization cycle. The subsequent repetition of the carries significant economic implications, which is in these times more than undesirable. The initial adjusting method can be modified thanks to new possibilities of contactless sensors. A contactless sensors are resistant to some influences, that involve the measuring. The sufficient accuracy of measuring is preserved even if the contactless sensors are used. An experimental measuring stand was designed and built for the contactless method verification
