Competitive pressure is forcing suppliers, manufacturers and customers to increase constantly requirements on the quality of products or services. For this reason all levels of quality management tools are used. Using seven basic tools for quality assurance is obvious; moreover seven new tools were defined from this reason. The application of statistical tools is growing, too, mostly depending on the needs and demands for accuracy and product quantity, especially statistical process control and sampling inspection. The summary of standards recommending various kinds of sampling inspections shows that the orientation in the area is not as easy as it should be, e.g. a decision tree is absent, border conditions are not so clearly defined etc. This gap will be covered by this contribution. The full paper will deal with the analysis of 29 standards, which can be applied in the Czech industry.
