Vladimir Putin’S ‘War On Fascism’ And The Russian Links To Far-Right And Antisemitic Parties In Europe
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Vladimir Putin’s regime often presents itself as an anti-Fascist force, using the legacy of The Great Patriotic War for purposes of anti-Western and anti-Ukrainian propaganda. However, this ostensibly anti-Fascist and anti-antisemitic Russian ethos is somewhat tainted by the fact that the Putin’s regime has the tendency to view the world through conspiracist lens that leaves the door open for antisemitism. Moreover, the regime receives a strong vocal support from far-right fascist and antisemitic parties, to which, arguably, it provides certain financial, organizational and to some extent even ideological support. The following chapter attempts to tackle some of these paradoxes within the narrow limits of an academic paper by providing an overview of recent personal and financial contacts as well as ideological and geopolitical affinity between the Russian authorities and European far-right parties. A brief overview of the levels of antisemitism in Russia and Ukraine is included in order to provide context.
