Measuring psychomotor skills: Developing a scale to measure ball-handling skills
Popis výsledku v původním jazyce
Psychomotor skills are essential for the execution of many motor tasks. This paper reports on the development of the scale on ball-handling skills by means of Rasch analysis. In this study, the subjects were children 9 to 11 years old in urban public schools in the Czech Republic. Three hundred children participated. The items were designed by means of the model of qualitative analysis of the movement from which valid inference on the content validity of the scale could be made. To assess the constructvalidity, test performance for all children on the scale was subjected to analysis for fit to the theoretical Rasch measurement model. The scale developed in this study describes the amount of ball-handling skills of the children. The results indicate that this scale is relatively homogenous with respect to its content. To indicate the replicability of items if the scale is given to another sample, the item reliability index was provided. The scale has a good reliability.
